I spotted this beauty while mushroom hunting up the road a couple miles (Cascade foothills, Oregon). It is an adult phase Pacific Giant Salamander. They are the world's largest terrestrial salamander, though at 12" and about a pound (est.) in weight they can't compare to the Hellbender or the Giant Chinese Salamanders. Nevertheless, I thought he was awesome. It was very docile and slow moving.


Hmmmm...........That reminds me of a story, but I won't get into that.
