Monster PBs caught in 2007

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The PB in South Florida is mostly in the Broward and Miami-Dade County and some in the West Palm Beach Area. That's the SouthEastern part of the State.

I've also heard that they can be found as far North as Citrus county which is about an hour North of Tampa, although I have not personally witnessed them there. It's plausible, though, as that area is laced with Spring fed rivers where water comes out of the ground from the springs at above 70 degrees year round. I suspect they may even reach further North during the Summer months.

Caught and released Monster # 12 at around 2:30 PM today.

Male 17+ inches

Very nice Matt!!

Thanks Laz. It's the male of a pair spotted off the nearest bridge from my house.

There's more pics in the smallest PB thread in the Photo Lounge.

The female is still guarding the eggs but probably not for long. A lot of people fish that area. I hooked the female but did not land it just to make it spooked and harder to catch for somebody else. The male might rejoin the female but not sure. Sometimes they go back to tending the eggs but sometimes they just take off after being released and not be seen again.

Lol... a male that size is better off...he doesnt realize the favor you did him...lol, hope he learns from it.

Nothing like kicking off the new week with a monster catch. These three were caught on X-Rap slash bait. Only the first fish shown is 17 inch or more the other two were 13 and 14 inches. Nice markings on the fish in the last picture and would have been a keeper if I have tank space.
