Don't restrict the input line, the reason the output line is smaller is to increase the pressure. If you want more flow, then go with a 1.5"-1.5". If you want more pressure, then keep it at 1.5"-1".

agree...i have a mag 18 with 3/4" in/out and i use 1" to give it a better flow and reduce stress and heat on the pump. :)

I just got a Quietone 6000. It is about twice the size of the next smallest model the 4000. I cannot hear it running at all. Del if I was going to use canisters I would go with the Ocean clear I have some set up now and I am very impressed with the construction of them. I have a two part system with the polybead in the second canister for bio. It wouldn't hurt to check out the canisters Li sent you. I have thought about getting one in the past and you already have the bad ass pump to power it.

The Ocean Clear filters are hard to beat. I have a couple of Model 354 poly bead filters. Love em. That Quite One 9000 looks impressive, but after looking at the specs., I'm not sure it's pressure rated, and would be good for canister use. I sent an email to Foster's & Smith, but they didn't seem to know either. A regular circulation pump works great for a sump return, but they are not worth crap as a canister pump where they need to pressurize a larger filter. I've tried it, didn't work. Barely had any return flow. I had to buy a different pump that had a pressure rating for canister/protein skimmer, etc. use. Does anyone know for sure? Del, anyone, what do the instructions say? Unkown, is your 6000 hooked up to your Ocean Clear's? I would like to know the pump's intended use before I buy one.

coral life turbo sea high pressure pumps are realy good priced good too
