Monster Pump question for 3-220 gallon tanks central system...Need Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Chris willing to help me plumb it lol. I think you are right tho. Seems Dart would be the fit. I also think it will be onl sale next week.

Im goin to do some looking around for you. They used to sell pre made manifolds for these pumps. I want to say I had one that had 6 one inch outs. Also, remeber, you can always add power heads if you think you needs more flow in the tank, you have to be sure you dont overwhelm you filtration with too much flow. If I can find the manifold, Ill link it here.

Go Reeflow. The new Snapper/Dart Hybrid comes with 2 different "impellers". You can pick which one has the flow that suites you. Head pressure is a huge deal. The flow rates you think you are getting are most likely at zero head pressure. The Dart should be fine, and is relatively quiet. Very efficent also. As long as you can deal with the plumbing, you'll be happy with this pump. I ran several years ago when they were Dolphin, and had one last year running my big tank. Sold it as I didnt need it anymore with the native set-up. These can also be throttled bad without damaging the pump head. Seals used to be an issue for salt water, fresh you should be fine. Dont get sand in it.

Chris

+1 on this, I have one and I cant even hear it running, I used the 3600gph impeller, took a few minutes to switch over.

What about 3 mag drive 24s put in sump one for each tank.

Never been a fan of Mags. Too much heat transfer, too much draw. Big systems call for external's.

Yea i am worried a lot about electric considering how many tanks i have.

As you can see in the last pic I have enough flow to push all the sand to the side easy. But the rays and fish like to play in those spots and it's good for the tank to have some good flow.
