Great looking leucosticta Peter, they look to be the same population as mine. They will so some stunning color after they settle in!
I sure hope so :) It'll be great if I can get a pair.

7" is considered monster for these? I thought they can hit 10".
Hence "potentially":D These guys grow relatively slowly - saves a lot of nursing when I can start with 7 inchers.

Thanks guys. They need to beef up....just bought a pound of blackworms :)

Nice pick ups. You should have no problems beefing them up...they eat like pigs!

Peter.... Congrats:drool::drool: They are really nice and now I am really jealous.. but I am consolling myself by the fact that my baby orangeheads (from Ed)had a growth spurt and at least 2 of the 6 are about 2 1/2 inches now... how are your babies doing?? If I had the room I would be knocking at your door for some of those beautiful new fish :ROFL:Which tank are the new bunch going in??.. Please pics when they are in their new home:popcorn:.. Sue:D

Thanks Sue! The S. leucosticta went directly into the 220... they are not aggressive at all but apparently scared the heck of my gymnos - three had jumped :cry::cry:, not counting the few times when I caught/rescued them...very strange :(

My baby orangeheads moved into a 55 with some new baby A. hecklii and a juvie H. atabapo pair. So far so good but I don't think they are growing as fast as yours. Will post pics soon.

They look a little beat up and hungry... WCs and worms! Whee!

Congratulations on joining the Leucosticta army. When we're done, people will respect Satanoperca more than Discus.

Nice fish!

Could some one explain what the difference is between these and Jurapari?

"True" Jurupari are extremely boring fish, with little to no markings on their sides, colored silver with a little bit of iridescence. The only appreciable markings on the "True" Jurupari are diagonal lines from the snout through the eyes.

I keep both species in one tank, and the Leucosticta are by far the more attractive fish.

Quite easy to distinguish - one of my juruparis in the same tank:
