monster tank advice

I got my 6x2x2 from Nd about a year ago for I think £770 and that was with stand and hood! Comes with nice touches like soft close doors and silicone inside the stand (so if any water leaks it doesn’t get inside the joins)
I got it with the stand because I’m shocking at diy and wouldn’t fancy anything heavier than a cup of tea on anything I built! HTH

Shane templar Shane templar has made a very important point here. Just because some people on here can throw a solid stand together with their eyes closed, at a fraction of the cost of a shop bought stand, it doesn't mean that everyone is comfortable or has the confidence to do the same.

Yes it will cost them more to buy shop bought but at least they'll know that the stand has been made by guys who know what they're doing and even get a warranty thrown in too in some cases.

The message is simple really. If you are a competent DIYer i'd always say do it yourself, and save £££, but if you are unsure, and don't know anyone who can do it for you, then go down the route of shop bought for security. After all, as Shane said, it's not just a cup of tea you'll be placing on your stand, it needs the be right.

haha I've now decided to build the stand and found a 6x2x2 with stand cabinet for £100 but I'm only gonna use the 6x2x2 as a sump.

I always built stands myself, cheap and easy. For lights I just used shop lights. When it comes to sumps it depends what I keep. Usually I try to have the sump 1/4 to 1/2 of the actually tanks volume.

So the 8x3x2 glass tanks only 700 pounds, thats not bad. How thick is the glass? Weight capacity aside of a good wood stand, they will likely have a nice covering and doors correct? That's not bad either. At that size, how much would it be to find someone to weld you a stand?
