Monster tank

My source of income is based off of subcribers, so if my customers no longer need my product(because of the economy or for other reasons) then i will build a smaller tank. If a get more subscribers and more programming jobs than I will build a larger tank.
I am currantly in the price range for a 3000g freshwater tank, but this size is not definite for reasons mentioned above.
I would like to use plants because they are an easy way to filter harmful chemicals in the water such as nitrates.
I do have sufficient lighting for them.
The tank will most likely be in the greenhouse of the addition I am putting onto my house.
The tank will never have to be moved.
I do have to pay a water bill and i have enough income to change the water.
Heaters, materials, and filtration are all subjects I am not sure about, that is why I posted here.

hmm... this would surely be a big challenge. especially with plants. I just saw a vid of a 10,000 gallon and this thing was like seaworld status haha. Im not sure u know exactly what this is gonna take but if u got the money, time, and space then props to u. be sure to get pics and vids so the rest of us can see if u decide to go through with it cuz it would be cool to see a tank that size.

there we go that's progress. lol Don't take tough questions as people being mean. (well most of us) but people come and go that say they are going to build this type of stuff all the time.

Use what ever you want for substraight Gravel, sand, tile. Plants I wouldn't know about.

You'll also need a good link to Huge water pumps. 5K or larger to run the big filters.

This should give you a better start.
 
Man if you can do this... Even a 3000k WOW!!! I dream of stuff like that. Pics during the process please and good luck.

i would make sure the funding is 100% before even attempting to build a 1K tank..

i hope everything goes well and u can start sharing ur progress soon :)
 
There is a thread somewhere around here about the guy with his greenhouse that he uses in conjunction with all of his outdoor pond type inclosures. He used solar heating, plant filtering, the works. He has multiple containers though, not one giant one. Finding that thread might be a good start.
 
Don't get discouraged if you think you can really take this on, its been done before. There's a video that comes up when you do a search for monster fish keepers of a guy that built an aquarium that was more like an addition on his house. He did say that he didn't expect it to last more than 10 years.
