Monster that fits in a 20

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't keep either one of those in a 20. I've seen arowanas reach close to 40" and oscars @ about 18". You many be able to get away with one or two pictus cats or columbian sharks if it's a 20 long....
I'm fairly certain those suggestions weren't intended to be taken seriously. BTW, Columbian sharks, Hexanematichthys seemani, can get well over 12 inches in length.

I'd recommend pike livebearer (Belonesox belizanus), African pike characin (Phago spp., not Hepsetus odoe), or true leaffish (Monocirrhus polyacanthus) as predators for a 20 gallon.

I think Ichthyophile hit the nail on the head! B. belizanus or South American Leaffish would be awesome in that tank. Especially if it's 30" long instead of 24".:cool-1:

no monster tank = no monster fish

Killifish and livebearers would work on a 20 gallon tank. Rams would work too.
but they are not monsters by any means. One definition of monster would be fish
bigger than a 20 gallon tank.

ok i think i get it now: save money for a monster tank, enabling me to get a monster fish..
man im dumb shoulda thought of that before sorry for wasting all of your time but thanks for trying... but on another note: whats the minimum size tank for having a monster tank?

im new to this too... the smallest tank you should get if you want a big fish 12-16" is a 55g and that could be for one and only one... like an oscar... if you want a real monster you are going to need a monster tank, 75g up to.... lets just say way bigger cause one guy here has a 50,000g tank.... bigger fish=bigger tanks, more fish=bigger tanks

EDIT: and from the looks of what you have in your tank im going to say your going to need a bigger tank... those clown loaches will get pretty big in time

peppermint pike head or afro butterfly fish

The first thing you need to research is what type of FISH you want.

First find the fish you want, then find the appropriate sized home for it.

Research, research, research.

How many fish do you want?
Do you want a community tank or species only tank?
Do you want aggressive monsters?

Once you find the one/ones you want:
What size tank will it need? Or if there's more than one, what will all of them need?
What filtration they will need
What water parameters they need

SO first thing you should do, is look around this site at pictures and in the different forums and find some fish you really like.

;) ;)
