Monsterfish and lake Malawi cichlids?

I was wondering what monster fishes can I keep with lake Malawi cichlids? Can i keep a gar (only for a month or two then it gets moved to my indoor pond at my dad's place) or a mbu puffer?

I think the Congo Puffer is compatible. Not to mention bright red with horns ;D

I kept a mbu with malawi cichlids for awhile. The mbuna would pick at his tail sometimes though and the mbu killed a couple haps/peacocks when it was feeding time.

ive never seen a gar in an african tank. Personally i wouldnt, youre risking losing the africans because gars get pretty big and theyre pretty tough

giraffe catfish and aslo depends what malawi you kep if you have haps then maybe Arrowana
