Monsterfish and lake Malawi cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My question would be what african/malawi cichlids could I keep with monster fish. I'd respond, larger haps/peacocks, trout cichlid, eye biter, etc. Many of the larger african cichlids get about 12 inches in size. Frontosa burundi get large enough.

Nobody really can say for sure because each fish has a different temperament . What works in someone elses tank might not work in yours.

It would end up being a species only tsn tank. Bichirs can work as long as the malawis aren't to aggressive. A ripsaw cat would work even better. There are also quite a few african syndontis that grow to decent size. But for sure stay away from tsn and rtc along with a long list of others, unless we are talking about a zoo-like exibit sized tank where the fish could out breed the predation..

African arowana, African species of puffers like the guys said, synodontis catfish, giraffe catfish, Bichirs as long as their not lower jaw species do to the fact they grow very large, so senegals and ornates, killie fish as long as you provide enough floating plants so that they can hid if the africans decide to get hungry, not to many things you can put to be honest, but from what i've given you. If you were to put a tank with all of these species of fish and get in to work, you would be one of the first that i've seen do a full on multi species african tank.
