according to all the old pics i have dug up it looks like he was just an inch or two smaller one year ago then he is now...although he was not as thick .. his head etc is bigger all the way around.. here is a pic of him in 2007 and 2008 .. i would say his best growth was between 2007 and 2008 ... one thing i did learn about him was the best health and growth occured because i kept him by himself in the beginning year and a half... no competition.. became a good eater... i think that gave me the foundation i needed... because i had two other bGK in the past.. in a community tank.. they literly starved over the period of time.. they never came out to eat.. i think having both of these knives ..the BGK and Clown in their own tank for the first year is why i have had success......and thats why they have good growth...

Nice BGK...Makes me miss my old large one (near 17 inches:WHOA:). He got sick, put him in the hospital tank, he got better and I started to put him back in the big tank but I figured I'd give him one more day. Next day he was on the floor stiff...somehow jumped through the lid:cry:...Should've went with my first mind.:irked:

But yours gives me hope Liz. I have another that is now pushing twelve inches!...Soon I can be like you;)

Very nice stock and photos as usual!

i am sorry that you lost such a big BGK.. do you have old pics of him..so sad he jumped....your new guy is doing well for you..love to see pics of him too..what do you feed... i feed Hikari cichlid pellets as a staple and then he loves his silverside pieces and krill etc.

A fellow BGK lover ! How did you get those pics, I'm a little green. Mine won't pose and the pics are always blurry.

I have 2 myself that are over 12" , they are both in a dark tank so it's hard to take pics.

Your knifes look great.:headbang2
