Monster's DIY Monster Sized Filter socks *Stop changing out filter socks everyday

I love the diy work you do. The tank is awesome! But the only problem with this method is the cost of $ spent on filter media each week...or month if you try and re-use and rinse the stuff. Have you thought about having 3 or 4 filter socks? You would need more inlets into the sump obvioulsy but the benefit to the filter sock is the ability to wash and re-use them.

Thanks brother!!!

Nice thing is i don't have to buy new filter media, this stuff I'm using can be used over and over. I used the same stuff in my pool DIY filter I built too. When it's clogged or dirty I simply rise out in the hose and throw it in a pillow case then in the wash machine brother. I wouldn't waste money on filter material every month by no means...lol I'm a single father of three bother.. Barely get by and why I'm always looking for cheaper better ways to do things.

You've already built a successful plywood aquarium, and now you're engineering filter socks. I'm keeping an eye on you my friend :D

Did you attempt using a 3 gallon "buckets" with threaded tops? Then you could make a big rubber seal in the top and cement in a PVC adapter to the top... To change out the sock simply unthread the sock from the "cap" and thread on the other sock...
