I've never owned one or seen one offered other than online. Whats the reason they don't appear to be very popular other than the obvious, aggression, size, etc? Red tigers look awesome! Just curious I have always loved parachromis and I never hear much about monts? Maybe they are and Ive just got too much stoopid in my head haha.

I think most people go for Friedrichstahli or Loiseli when theyre looking for smaller than Jag sized Parachromis. I too have never seen Motaguensis offered other than in specialist stores (the kinds that sell every type of Vieja and Geophagus)

Why the @#$% did i think there was an "n" in there ha I always have?!?! Guess thats what I get for being impatient oh well should have proof read.

What difference would it have made to proof read if you thought the N was supposed to be there?

Maybe Motaguense aren't as popular with LFS' because they're too aggressive...not sure why but I never see them at my LFS either but have seen plenty of other Parachromis.

Because had I went to verify the spelling of the fish instead if being lazy, then I would have noticed because I have never spelled it before, or I should have just copied and pasted.

Well, I think it's like a lot of CAs... They're aggressive and need a (relatively) big tank. You've got your mainstay CA species that have been in the hobby forever, and rarely will you see "newer" ones in a LFS.

I agree I have seen a downward trend in the last few years in my area for big aggressive fish. I guess they missed the bus.

Motaguense are common like oscars and red devils where i live.....San Francisco...........I see them everytime I go to the store.......Prices at $3-7, they are really common......

I was given a 2incher that is about 6in now and he isnt aggresive at all, I had to get rid of my pleco because it kept attacking him and he wouldnt fight back.
