That's brilliant, trying to raise arwareness and studying at same time,,,,Bringing these to the public and showing there not mindless killer's like 80% of the world think....I love shark's and apprichiate the work you guy's do to ensure there future...as everything there under threat from new technology and lifestyle and people mindlessly killing either for fun or retaliation killing's after someone gets attacked because of a case of mistaken identity....Keep up the good work....How much involvement do you have in this project?

Thanks! I have as much involvement as I can possibly get. Which I guess is not that much, but about the same as everyone else except for the Curators (the people you see in all the pictures that are far more important than me :) ). They are the people calling the shots and are responsible for the shark.

Thats really cool but whats the plan with her? Is it like a study then release or is the aquarium her forever home?

I would guess observe and release. It's not really set up for long term display.
Melissa can correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep yep! We will just keep her until it's decided she needs to be returned for her own health or gets too big. She will only be with us a few months tops. But yeah, the main reason we keep great whites is to educate people the TRUTH about sharks and change their negative attitudes towards them. She is really an ambassador for her species.

When she is released she will be tagged and tracked. We have learned a lot of new info on great whites this way in the past like migratory patterns, how deep they go and to what temperature, etc.

I was just there last month! I missed seeing this little beauty by so little!!! Oh well, the Outer Bay exhibit was still cool, especially during feeding time. Love those Mahi mahi!

i thought great white sharks couldnt be kept in captivity cuz they get really stressed and start banging the glass! hopefully this will workout tho.

imagine seeing a fully grown great white in an aquarium! that wud be INTENSE but also highly educational for all those JAWS haterz out there
