Looks like a really washed out captive bred Polypterus bichir (Lapradei type).

Moved to the big tank now and put a hand full of pellets in. First fish (bottom feeder) to show is one of my two Ornates. They are the most active of my Bichirs.

Typically a “pile” comes with Genius. There’s a couple Endi’s and a Congo with him now.

Genius is 3’ right about 20 pounds and 15 years old…

He’s just starting to make a sound, like a fog horn, when he breaths. It’s super cool. It’s a deep sound and I can hear it over the TV.
