Moon Light

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When i first got my 75 gallon it came with a wimpy 40watt light strip. I bought a coralife light strip, and kept the 40watt strip and added a blue acintic bulb to it instead of the regular light. it looks like a nice blue blacklight look, much more rewarding looking than a black light bulb. and YES, it does help for the ladies, recomended.

that makes me sound like a scum bag, but eh.

hmmmm... what about red light?

heard it being used for nocturnal herps as in theory red light is supposedly unseeable by them...

not sure if i got it right...

Anyone getting a blue strip light, dont go to aqua supplier, try electrical wholesaler,in U.K. they are quarter of the price.

I haven't had much sucess with the red light with my noctunal fish they still wont come out, and my halfbeak killed himself cause it freaked him out so much when it first came on that he ran into the glass and broke his jaw.

I leave my moon light on 24x7 and just cycle my main lights (in four steps: half on, all on, half off, all off). It doesn't seem to freak out my fish.

Hiya Instain, welcome to MFK, not to derail but where in ND are you.

Fargo. I'm finishing up my Master's in electrical engineering at NDSU this semester. To keep this on topic, I bought a house here in May and I am planning on remodeling a room and putting in (at least one) large aquarium. I hope to keep some native fish like pumpkinseed sunfish.
