List
1 LED Lightbar.
I used a blue one that I found in walmart in the Auto section.
1 Power Supply
I used one off a old portable DVD player that no longer worked. It is rated at 9volts and 2000mA.
1 wire stripper
1 Roll of electic tape
Now I know nothing really about electronics except that there is pos. (+) and neg (-). I first hooked this LED to a 9volt battery and it lights up and really gives the tank a nice blue hue at night. This current power supply states that it is 120v in and 9 volts out. I really dont know if it will work at all but I am going to try. By wireing the light to this new power supply I will completely get rid of the 9volt battery and be able to have the light on all the time.
Step 1
I cut off the end of the power supply and stripped back both wires
Step 2
connect wires to LED light bar and hopefully everything should work.
Like I said its a work in progress and currently I still need to connect the wires and see if it will light.
My only worry is I know nothing about electrical work. I beleive it will work but still am unsure. Also I am starting to wonder about a fire hazzard being that the lights are made for 12 volt car battery. I beleive though with the step down to 9 volts that I should be fine.
I love to do things myself and try to keep as close to professional done as possible. More pics will come when I get off work and get home to test everything out.
