morally correct to feed unwanted

Small sick fish has unseen parasites. Big fish eats small fish, ergo big fish eats unseen parasites.

Same thing applies with visible parasites, viruses and bacteria. Even if you keep a spotless tank, a devastating disease outbreak can be triggered by a single sick fish. I'm sure many of the forum members have personal experience with this tragedy, myself included.

forget the sick fish and morals. how about feeding a healthy fish to a larger fish to make room or stop problems.

for example one fish wont leave other fish alone
or likes biting on peoples tails.

and im talkin about 1 dollar 2 dollar mbuna cichlids.

I think its wrong to feed unwanted fish to another fish. Thats why I don't use feeders, if you bought the fish and got bored with it then I see that as your fault (not blaming you I'm just saying 'your' as in the owner). The owner took responsibility for that fish when they bought it from the shop.

I know in time that if you don't get along with fish, then you might want to try something new, I've done this but only because my LFS was willing to take them off my hands. I certainly wouldn't have fed them to another fish.

Feed FEED FEED!!!!! just dont feed sick fish dude thats just not smart...(some people just need to learn from experience i guess) So go ahead and do it!!!!

I don't see anything morally wrong with it. In nature, weak, sick and just unlucky fish get eaten by bigger fish all the time. Better that than a death where their energy is wasted. Given that people buy fish as feeders all the time I don't think it matters how or where you got the fish either.
