I've been looking into Gymnothrax Melatremus (sp?) for my 55. He stays tiny and is even tempered, or so the web says. And my LFS can get me one for 160. The cheapest price online is like 350! (USD) Look into that one, OP. I'm liking what I see so far.
Plenty of colorful alternative to the tesselata exist. Definitely agree with whitemouth, a gorgeous eel gets large but not to level of size and aggression that tessies get. Blackedge morays are cool too...not too big but very active and outgoing
thanks a lot for the comments/ advice.... guez I'll give it a further thought, I luv my panthers and I don't want them to end up in the eel's mouth.... btw Billy, thats a very nice yellowheaded moray...
This is what this beast can turn into.... watch how thick it is as it swims around. Tesselata "Leopard" Eel. Can grow to 60 inches.... That all being said, I'd get it, looks sweet.
I have a 14" remora that should be about 18" thanks to a tessy. Bit him in half. After he lived for about 2 months at the Lfs I took him home. The same tessy killed a 25" horn shark. They're nasty
