MORE feeder bycatch

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How does everyone else get so lucky. I get feeders about twice a week for my RES and I never get anything. I once noticed a yellow cichlid (don't laugh at me I'm not good with names I do know enough that it was an african cichlid) in a feeder tank and told them about it. The funny thing is 2 of them kept looking in there telling me there wasn't. I had to follow with my finger for a couple of minutes till they spotted it.

Still refusing to believe the gourami without pics. So what if there was a tiger barb in the feeder tank? Anything wrong with using that as a feeder?

I asked an employee (not an @$$ employee) and he said that they probably jump out of their proper tanks and manage ti hit water, just the feeder tank.
Good news! When I asked tjhat employee who my Mom knows from working at Circles, he said he put the Tiger Barb back where it should be!! (Unnoficial MFK-er:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2)

Just got some kind of rainbow out of the shrimp tank. The employee who fished it out had no idea how it got in there.

I one had a a male Dwarf Gourami in my mix of feeders.....

Good job man! I was going to suggest a jump, but I don't know the tank placement and didn't want to suggest something impossible.

The best I've pulled out of a feeder tank are three golden algae eaters. $0.36 for three fish that would have cost about $4 each at half the size.

Thanks. I was pretty relieved, I couldn't imagine what it's like tyo be a Tiger Barb, a schooling fish, in a tank alone with Rosy Reds and Crayfish. Also he was injured (missing eye) so the bad water quality must've stung. If you read the above posts, someone found a Gourami in the feeders. If what the employee said was correct, he probably jumped, landed on the glass top of a half-covered tank (or the uncovered Feeder tank) and was in.
I wasn't so mad abount the tropicals being in there, accidents happen in LFS, but that no one would do anything aboutb it!
The Algae Eaters...get this...may have been put in to clean up the floaters. One LFS has used Blue Channel Catfish and Sun Catfish to clean up. Such a waste as they will eventually die of disease.
