More info on crazy Amazon river swimmer!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hope he has his dingaling covered or a fish just might swim up it.

He’ll make it I recon. Too much time, money and resources have gone into it for him to either lose his ‘dingaling’ or to say ‘okay forget this we’ll try again next year’.

And I don’t think piranhas will be a huge issue unless he has a big open wound and passes a shoal during a time with little rain as the rivers get smaller.

Would be interesting to stay up-to-date on this though!

Piranhas are not a problem, they're scavengers like vultures, eating dead and dying. They'd only attack to protect their babies, common myth many believe that they'd attack anything in the water. When in reality, the natives swim in the very same waters that piranhas inhabit.

I don’t quite agree with everything you said there to be honest…
It is quite true they will attack the dead or dieing, but if something living is damaged or has a wound you can count that as fair game as well. While they would not only attack when protecting babies, in fact the young fend for themselves. The natives sure do swim with the piranhas, but for only as long as it is not the dry season and they have no wounds. Not trying to be Mr Right there, just wanted to make some correction bud.

Does he sleep at night, or does he swim 24 / 7 except for that few hours in the morning? (Which, by the way, I think is not appropriate.) Even long distance bikers don't stop. They eat on the way...

I would worry a lot more with anacondas and boas ( as well as with big crocodiles that exist in certain locations ) and all those tiny creatures that go inside of you then I would with Piranhas.
