It will work great. Bulk media always works great, but some people looove to pay extra for media that says "Fluval/eheim/etc". The only brand of mechanical media I will pay extra for is Rena, because its still cheap & they tell you exactly how many pores/inch you're getting on their foam & how fine their floss is (microns). Just my opinion, but I would definitely encourage you to experiment with several cheap bulk media combinations.
seems like im a bit late to help you out today, that sounds like a fine set up. I personally never use carbon unless i'm trying to remove tannins/medication. Some say it causes Hole In The Head disease but...there isnt really any proof for any cause of HITH so it wouldnt really hurt I suppose. Good luck!

I've been using the Poret foam for a while now and it works awesomely. They've got 10ppi, 20ppi, and 30ppi to choose from. The stuff lasts a LONG time and doesn't clog up easily.
