Sorry to revive an ancient thread, but has anybody got photos of these big loaches? Photos of adults are rare as rocking-horse-s...manure online.
Rules of thumb for large botia: schools (>5), lots of tank (>100Gal) and lots (and lots and lots) of flow & lots of hiding spots/structure. Y. modesta is my favourite- far more personality than clowns and they get silkier & prettier as they get bigger, whereas clowns seem to wash out.
A fish that big should be able to take on/out any local invertebrate... or vertebrate for that matter.
