More New Natives!

Thanks alot for all your help guys. I can't wait until I get my pond made and all these guys can be happy outside. I think I have about 9 1-2" sunfish in a 29. It is a tight fit until the pond is done. Here are some pictures of them in the tank and a tank picture. The pictures aren't very good but they will do.

Thats what I think I have , I have never seen green sunfish that small I think I will go catch some theyre cool looking when theyre smaller.:thumbsup:
 
That is what I kinda thought too. According to the other guys though it is normal for a baby greeny to have those stripes.

Are you talking about the one you had in the little blue tank? Because thats definately a green sunfish, not a hybrid. But if you want to go catch some smaller greens, I would suggest buying a throw net. Ive caught green sunfish, bluegills, and crappie down to about 1" w/ mine!
 
We just waited until night when they all came in shore and we caught them with a regular aquarium net. They really slow down at night. By the way they are all thriving now.

Thank you! Another good way to catch smaller natives is to use small dry flies, sizes 12-20, and drag them across the surface so they create a small wake. Ive caught tons of sunfish that way!
