Oh and I got him to eat a little shrimp. I dont like to feed piranhas feeders, but I was wondering if I should in this case just to try and fatten him up.
i would stick to shrimp in this case, maybe even a little salmon to help add a little extra fat to its diet, but i wouldn't give it feeder fish unless it absolutely will not eat anything else... in its malnourished state, i wouldn't think it would handle the parasites and/or disease that feeders could possibly introduce.

Joe that fish looks exactley like the rhoms that you had a whilee back.. im pretty sure its a rhom.
yeah, that's kinda what i was thinking... here's a before and after pic of the starving rhom that i got a few months back, the first was taken at the lfs the day i got him and the second was taken exactly one month later, i fed it nothing but shrimp and tilapia fillets and did water changes twice a week to help speed up his recovery... the pictures aren't that great, but you get the idea

IMO looks like a elong ?! Correct if im wrong . I very well may be . Sher looks like elong .

i was thinking the same thing, but i'm defo not the guy to go with on this. the back of the fish may just be decreased because of malnutrition.

Sorry guys I was out of town this weekend. Thanks for all the input and ideas. He is still just eating a little bit of shrimp here and there, I think he is still getting used to his new home. I will try to get some more pics up later this week and when he is a bit fatter.

sounds like a plan, i'm sure he'll be lookin good in no time

good luck with him, im going to take a stab in the dark and say its a gold diamond, because of the gold anal fin, but thats a serious guess, as said above, it will be easier to tell once he is fattened up a bit.
i would also stay away from feeders, and be patient, he will come around.
