Jess, I guess I am one of the "but" people because as good as your red tail looks she still just looks like a normal BCI to me. She will most likely darken up as she matures.

Okay.

He's in a small enclosure so he settles in for the moment, as he's still scared as hell (unlike your huge encloure for your boa..) and his water bowl is sized accordingly. If it's too big, there will be too much humidity, if it's too small, there will be not enough. I know what I'm doing LC, trust

Btw, you might want to take a page out of my book, and offer him a smaller water bowl, huge things just overwhelm young snakes, yeah and put yours in a smaller tank too. Even better, don't put him in a tank at all.

Up for critisim and advice and all (as by Jason, I take that in fully) but when its from an impulse-buyer with the knowledge of a monkey (better make that squirell) when it comes to caring, and physcology of animals, I think I'll trust myself on this one, not you.

And I also ask you not to post silly critisism just because I don't agree with you on impulse buying that gecko...because this is the SECOND time you've done this now. Or at the very least, make it easier hidden the game your playing.

I've asked you to take this to PM, as I find you, LC, quite unbelievebly cheeky. All your animals are starving..and have no temp or humidity gauges anyway...so what would you know about the size of a water bowl?

But yeah, PM me LC, or the next you time you post silly unbelievably cheeky responses to my pictures of my herps being healthy (which yours are the COMPLETE opposite of may I add....) because I don't agree with you (and thats the only reason your doing it...) then I will PM you. And not pleasantly. That or I will just make a complaint about your foolish behaviour because your now getting on my nerves.

First it was 'your feeding your boa too much' because I disagreed with you on something now this? You didn't even know how long to leave it after your boa has ate before handling it LC

Like I said, genuine critisim and advice is welcomed, as I welcomed the advice by Jason, but childish herp-killers using it as a snidey weapon because theyre annoyed I don't agree with their method of herp 'keeping' (killing?), sorry but thats overboard. I would be THE biggest fool to ever take advice from you, you must realise everyone on this forum feels the same, so, do yourself a favour and stop embarrassing yourself. You tell US to grow up?

At the end of the day, I know I have no idea whats in him, or much about him, other than his dad was a salmon hypo, and I was told he was crossed with a red tail..
Being uncertain, I can't debate on it as I'm not experienced with locales..breeds etc, I just wanted a nice looking boa LOL.

If its parents is a Salmon (Columbian BCI x Surinam BCC), Salmon Hypo (Salmon x Salmon) or Sunglow (Salmon x Albino), then there is definately a Columbian BCI x Surinam BCC in the mix; it is what breeders use to make those morphs anyway.

I will trust you on that one Dave, LOL, as I know you know your boas. Hows the locales getting on, and the carpet?

carefull,life hase a way of taking some turns and forcing you to simmer down.unless your family helps out,it can get overwhelming as you get older with jobs,travel,families and such.i sure miss some of my old herps.just a freindly warning,you can always sell some off later but then they might go to some schmuck who gets lazy on them.No baggin here,just some thoughts.

Yeah, I completely get what your saying, and your right mate, but, selfish as it seems, I'm just not prepared to put my life on hold for the off chance someting will happen, because my love of herps is never ending.

I have a few ideas of rehoming if I needed too.

This is a great point! How many pics do we see of baby or newly aquired herps compared to long term captives?? This is something that should be well thought out BEFORE the purchase, many times young adults dont think about college, careers, future family and such. What will come of the "pets" when it is time to move on?

With college, I will have more than enough time for my herps, a career would be no problem either. As for future family? Pahh it's a long way off. But I usually go for blokes who are into animals anyway...

This is something that should be well thought out BEFORE the purchase, many times young adults dont think about college, careers, future family and such. What will come of the "pets" when it is time to move on?

The whole future thing is the reason why I stopped keeping fish and owning dogs, and started keeping reptiles and cats.

A chick who doesnt like snakes, or at least isnt open to them, is totally out of the question for me... I couldnt stand a girlfriend whos scared to come into my own house! I'm not saying she has to be total nature freak... but it would be nice to have someone to take care of my animals when I'm gone.

I am fairly set in where I will be, I am 23 in my career field and somewhat out of college (only have a few courses left to take). I do live in an apartment, but the only place I have left to go in life is up. A house should be in the near future with more space for me and my hobbies.

Plus...my gf somewhat likes my geckos, so that is a plus.
