more problems on my 180 (they never stop)

To bring the temp down from a temperature like that though you would need quite the cooling fan in my opinion. Also when you go too big with thouse small canopy fans they get very loud so your better off with a big house fan to ensure the job is done right. Unless your problem is the lighting it's self then the small canopy fans might work to eliminate the heat radiating off the lights onto your water.

turn off the metal halides and see if the temp drops. i am geussing it will those lights get very hot. most are hung well above the tank for this reason. do you really need that much light?

no i dont really need that much light i just love the looks, ill turn them off and see what happens, i noticed last night it went from 92 to around 80 at night now its back to 92.8 with a pike earlier of 93.3 as the sun goes down so does the temp

its close but none of the light would touch it it is however on an exterior wall thats facing where the sun would go down adn theres no trees around our house so that could be a culprit too but im not moving a 3000 lb fish tank

Exterior walls are bad for aquariums. I would suggest a chiller. I live in Iowa, I run 2 150 watt hqi's on my 75 gal, and have no real fluctuation/ I keep it 69 degrees in the house, and the tank stays at 79 with no heater. If you have an open sump, you could put a fan blowing over the surface of the water in the sump, also try opening the doors on the stand to let more air into the stand, might help. I will say this though, are you sure those are accurate temps, you seem to be losing alot of heat at night, and gaining it right back first thing during the day. A tank that size should take a while to drop in temp yours seems awful fast.

i just took teh temp after lettin the door adn the canopy lid open all night its 90.` its not relaly going any lower now its staying between 90-93 adn im measuring it with one of those thing u stick in your mouth so it should be pretty accurate

invest in a chiller it will solve all our problems

i just found out the problem, the pump itself is making the water hot, after having some wet/dry issues adn shiutting everything down for a 10 mins 15 most the water i mid 80s and falling so there lies my problem, im guessing using ball valves to close is restricting its limits and therefor overheating it so im tryin to find a 1" in and 1" out to buy or trade mine for that way i can run the pump wide open as well as the main overflow frmot he tank
