MORE QUESTIONS ON SEEDING MY NEW TANK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well a colony of BB can double in size within a span of 24 hours. I think it is safe to take off one of the filters, but leave the other one running for a good 5 days or so, then take the other one off, and you should be good. a lot of people underestimate how fast the bacteria reproduce. It doesn't take long for the bacteria to spread, it just takes a long while for them to find their way into your tank when you start a cycle.

Yes bacteria are one of that fastest mulitplying organisms on the planet but if you start with a micro colony it will take around 5 days for it to be able to handle and convert large quanities of ammonia.

I tested my nitrates and it is 60-70ppm. This should mean that I am cycled and can remove the filters? Can I remove the filters and re check my nitrates soon after and will that tell me that I am cycled or not.?
