I run my python out my window and hook it up to my outside spigot. This allows plenty of pressure. My sink would not provide the pressure either.

But what about when you're refilling the tank with the icy cold water from the outside spigot? Isn't that a problem?

When I fill up in the winter, after draining the tank, I then take my shower head off, and use the python universal adapter so that I can fill up and control the temp.

Luckily, because I live in the deep south, I only need to do this Mid Nov-Mid Mar.

emptying the tank, just buy a cheap gravel cleaner and let the water drain out the window. The suction will be strong enough because the hose is shorter. Refilling, use the sink and be patient.

Going out the window will work just fine. I do this all the time. You do need to use a venturi to gravel vac. Going out the window works just as good as siphoning into a bucket.

Ya see, that's what I'm trying to avoid. With the python, I can vacuum, drain, and fill all with 1 hose and switch what I'm doing with the twist of a knob. At my old house, I could cycle my tank in like 12 minutes. Now it takes more like 45 with the exact same equipment. I want a method that will decrease that, not one that requires more steps and takes longer. I appreciate the help, though. So far, the shower head idea is the best I've heard. One step and I still retain the ability to control the water temperature. Too bad it's twice as far away from the aquarium =/

if you vac your tank with the water on, you're just wasting water. just get a regular lees vac and let it hang out the window. gravity rocks!!!!!!

pythons have their plus' and their negatives.

shower head idea is the best

Does your shower have more pressure then the sink you want to use??
Might be your faucet`s fault..Check the supply valve, make sure it is open all the way..unscrew the faucet end, they are quite often cruded up.

go to your local supply store and get either 3"/4" or 1" inner diameter clear tubing and drain it thru your window or the closet sink or toilet. as for the low pressure when filling I use the quick diconnects for garden hoses with the straight flow design and detach the python pump and go directly to the spigot.
