Mormyrus (mormyrops) Kannume Freshwater Dolphin Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been wanting this fish (Mormyrus Kannume) for 2 years. I live in South FL and have never even seen one in real life :c Can you direct me to where I can get one?

Check your tank for stray current if you've had trouble.

I dont really know how old this post is, but I have experience with a closely related fish, not sure of the scientific name though. I bought it(for my wifes oddball addiction) under the name ``Elephant nose`` They are very sensitive to water conditions. Like you already know. they are sensitive to light. I have a VERY bright light(I think anyways) and I have 3 places for him to hide. After they get settled down, they start coming out. VERY cool fish, Love to watch him and the Black Ghost Knife we have in the same tank. I have read of many people that are unable to keep these guys(and probably related fishes) alive, all comes down to water quality.(I think) I do 2 water changes a week for that tank, maybe thats part of the reason he`s so healthy. I am trying to expand my collection of mormyrids to include BABY WHALE and if I can find some, these fish you have pictured above.

hello, how are they doing now? I've been looking at keeping these fish together but have been advised not to because of their electromagnetic fields clashing and causing stress and eventually death.
