Moss wall natural background...

You don't even need the mesh, although I'm sure it makes it happen quicker. There are a few mosses that will just attach to the glass of the tank.

Davo, any ideas on the mosses that will do that and any idea where one might be able to order some in England?

I considered something like this, but decoded not to as it seemed to be a good way to get a large population of flies started (small ones, not house flies).

neat my questions are lighting and co2

how would the moss effect the ph and water quality

ph should be the same unless you inject co2 . moss usally prefers a bit lower temps and will grow in very low light just take years to fill in but on the other hand it is a slow grower so put alot of light over the tank and your asking for algea

Normal lighting is all you need to grow moss. Java moss should be available just about everywhere. If it's not at the LFS, ask around the local aquarium club.
I've done a similar thing. I siliconed some cork to the back of the tank, and just stapled the moss to it. Staples eventually dissolved leaving the moss attached to the cork. Looks great!
