most active / non shy eel?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had peacocks which I would go weeks to months without seeing, then got a tire track and saw his head poking out of his hide all the time but had to target feed him, now I have a fire eel who is always watching me from his hide but if he sees its feeding time he is posted up on his tail at the front of the tank waiting for the blood worms

Half banded eel.. Macrognathus circumcinctus

I bought mine sold as a zig zag eel, he's out all the time, likes to chill at the front of the tank and watch me, he isn't really personal but I see him a lot more than my other fish, I believe 7 inches is around max.

Iv had a peacock but it died due to not eating so I can't tell u much about them

My tire track I only see his head when he pops out every now and then

I tried 2 half banded eels and one bullied the other so if stick to 1 but mine gets along with my tire track just fine

Fire Eel!
Yep.The one that I had was quite active and always exploring the tank.I even had a skull ornament for it to hide in and it would go in and out of it as it made it's way around.Feeding it is a whole different matter though lol.

Polyterus :p

Smaller spiny eels generally

My fire eels like their tubes during the day, but in the evening and at night they are always out exploring. They are also very active during feeding time.

I had a mastacembilius dayi, black spiny eel, or spotted eel. Like a mini fire eel, without the vibrant color. It hid more often inside of overly active tanks, in tanks with less commotion and action it was quite active. Same genus as the fire eel cousin. Cool creatures

After i discovered my fire eel loves worms he is out swimming most anytime he sees me.

He used to bury in the rocks, but since i added that ugly pvc tube (24 inch tube) he loves being in the tube. Now no more digging.

He is currently in a 90 gallon grow out/quarantine tank.

He is fast becoming my favorite fish. I got him this size.

since you don't like the look of the pvc you could try to find some clay pipes
