I was just wondering which species are more active? I currently own 2, an Ornate and a Endli, and the Ornate is definitly more Active. From what I've heard Senegals are the most active and I think I also read that retropinnis are fairly active (may have to correct me there). So tell me what you guys think, which species are the most active?

ok what i ment was which species of bichirs are MORE active, not the most active species

it really depends on the poly. my lap is the most active out of my sen, ornate and endli.

This have been ask many time but give you an answer anyway.

Bichirs activity level varied within individual not within species. There are lazy sene and also hyper active sene for example. So it's not within species but individual bichir. Another thing that plays an important part are environment, metabolism, food, stress, tankmates and time. Those keys makes the activity level of the bichir.

what are the best tankmatges to make bichirs mroe active then? mine are in with a flagtail and a ntt. I realize that the flagtail is probably sucking on them right now but I strive to keep him well fed so hell turn into a monster

More bichirs!!!! Or see my video in youtube or at my signature at bcaquaria. Click the 3rd link.

its not a matter of which tankmates that goes well with either active or less active bichirs. But rather which one that don't harass your bichirs. If you look at the media lounge then you'll see many people keep their bichirs with other aggressive fishes successfully in the same tank. What you should note is how they do it?You'll be surprised that even some of most aggressive species which should be kept alone is actually in same tank with bichirs and everything seems to be fine. I've seen a giant wolf fish being kept together with a sen in a big tank, and still the sen tried to steal the food from the wolf fish.
Either way, bichirs are always better being kept on their own, this way it reduces the chance of food competitions in your tank.
cheers
