Most aggressive fish for a 55 gallon.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think a 55g is too small for the wolf fish, they get about 30" max. I think they need a 100g - 150g tank in the end.

A locking lid is a MUST if you get one, or it'll get out.

I had my one on its own in a 55 it was fine got to about 18" they are not an active fish so was ok he was quite happy in there the only unhappy things were the feeders but then again he would eat any thing you don’t have to feed them live food did have 2 filters on it would be better in a 75+ but will get away with 55

flowerhorns, buttis and central american cichlids would definitely be top contenders. Wolfish are too sedentary.. the only thing going for them are their teeth and jaws. But they hardy move ...

BTW , you would still need to upgrade for the fishes mentioned.

I just picked up 7 exodon tetras for my 55gal after the little demonstration at the pet shop. These little guys are fast and always hungry, they ganged up and shredded a guppy when it was tossed into their tank. I'm going back to Big Al's to pick up some more so I can have an even 10 in my 55g. I've heard they get up to about 5-7".

I have 7 exodons right now. They just don't seem to get any bigger. My convicts were smaller and have outgrown them in size (even the female). My exodons are maybe 3 inches or so and seem to stay that way. I have never seen a 7 inch exodon.

Really? I googled exodon tetras and on like 3 sites they said that they're suppoed to get to 7". How long have you had them? Maybe they just grow slowly. How big is the tank and what kind of stuff do you feed them?
