Puffers are more popular than I thought lol do they need any special requirements? I know they need stuff to grind their teeth down

I got out of salt because the maintenance wasn't worth it to me. Just thought I would through out the option. I am enjoying my new world cichlids much more.
For brackish tank - Salt and a hydrometer and you are good to go. Its good to have a bucket and pump to pre mix the salt but not necessary.
I saw someone suggested fahaka and they are cool but you will have to eventually upgrade your tank. I bought a fahaka and unfortunately I found it very boring it just laid around until it was time to eat. But that was mine I don't know if they are all like that.
Puffers are quite addicting. I have kept them for years.
You don't have to grind there teeth if you give them a proper diet, snails when small and bigger ones get crayfish, clams, shrimp and other grocery store type shell fish.
I agree with the Wolf Fish! Just got back from a trip to Denver where I saw a full grown male Dovii in a 180 gallon by himself. He was such a cool guy! VERY interactive- followed you back and forth and would smack at your hand if you touched the glass. He was HUGE and blue. Very much a "wet pet" to the owners- who tease and play with him often. I wouldn't put my hand in that tank though....cleaning day must be interesting!
On second reading of your post... DON'T go for a wolf fish in an 80 gallona 180 was pushing it!
Lung fish. Should be fine in an 80 and can deal with pretty bad water so tap quality is not an issue. FW lobster can be really cool too. The tank is a bit too small for any of the real nasty FW predators.
Salt isn't that much harder but it gets way more expensive really fast. A $1000 in live stock for FW 80 would be a real stretch. SW could be done with just a few fish. Anemone is very different. Once you start adding invertebrates then SW becomes a chemistry experiment.
