Grammodes.

not as adults, they get to 11". mine have always grown very slowly so in that matter i'd say he could keep one in there for awhile, but after seeing how fast polomax grew his out, i doubt keeping them in a tank that size for any prolonged period of time.

Pike top minnows, Belonesox belizarus.
Might check with JD7.62 as he was looking into a lead on getting some.
Bluespotted sunfish,
Enneacanthus gloriosus. Try www.jonahsaquarium.com.

Might be able to get away with one of the lurker type puffers, Monotrete abei, Tetraodon baileyi, Tetraodon suvattii, Tetraodon turgidus, or Tetraodon miurus. Tank is a bit on the small size though, if it were only a bit bigger :(

A Climbing Perch... You'll have just one fish very soon after :)

BUT...

Is this going to be the only fish in the tank? If so, you won't be seeing the aggressive behavior... So that kind of cancels out the want for an aggressive fish.

If you want to watch fish actively spar with each other, or fight for territory, get a few curviceps or other dwarf Cichlids.

Those fish get too big for a 2 x 1 tank :)
