So I have been “hired” to build an tank for a visitors center near me and it’s on “blackfish” pkwy. So I’m thinking light colored background and substrate and then do straight black fish. Problem is, I can only think of a couple. Black moors, black Betta, and black mollies. Anyone have any other ideas? It will be a freshwater tank at least 55 gallons maybe up to 125.

Black Venezuelan cory, expensive though.

Stomatepia pindu a cichlid from lake Barumbi mob in Cammaroo, stays black, except when spawning, then they get a charcoal grey.
They are mouthbrooders and reach about 7 inches as adults and are very active. They eat any fish that fits in their mouth.

Usually not found in LFSs, they can be found with breeders that specialize in West African cichlids.

If you want to do a cold water tank then black moors.

If you want a solitary catfish (you probably don’t though) then get a gulper catfish.

The gulper catfish could do that too, set up feeding times where you feed it a fish that’s almost as big as it :p
