whats wrong with thinking that nature is "cool"?? afterall, it's the natural instinct of that fish to eat whatever looks like prey. i just dont see what the big deal is.

with the correction that a tank, and a duck in the confines of a tank with an aro, is as close to nature as apples and oranges....

never said the tank was a natural habitat, but that is the arowana's instinct...

If you can afford the disneys-squeaking-duck, you can afford better diets for the fish that you are supposedly responsible for.
I have no objections to live feedings- if feed size and nutrition is appropriate. And how is purposely feeding a store bought duckling and placing it defenseles in a confined space for your store bought pet- natural? lol
In nature, BOTH animals would have their chance at survival. Maybe momma duck would might be right there pecking the shh outa the arowana. That would be her instinct. lol
Hopefully the next time we see these crazy feeding videos, after the "holy shh!" "did you see that shh just stop squeaking and neck all like linguine!!" - maybe some remorse.. maybe just a little?
anyways, enough rant, $100^ awesome fish choking on $3 duckling would be even sadder.

I think we can all agree that an fish like this would take anything that it could fit into its mouth - that is given. But again, the argument being that this is NOT a natural environment, and clearly this was videotaped and broadcasted purely for entertainment purposes. We as fishkeepers have a responsibility to those in our care to feed and shelter them correctly - not to experiment and videotape it. Sorry for the rant...

I feel bad for the Aro more so than the duck, that tank is WAY to small. The fish is probably miserable. At least the duck only suffered for a short time. As for feeling bad or filming it, whats the big deal? I watch the Discovery channel daily and I see Lions, Tigers, Bears, and so on being filmed while they violently kill other animals and eat them alive. Along with Sharks tearing seals apart and so on, it's nature get over it. If you don't like it don't tune in. :)
