yeah but discus bring in the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Yeah thats true... But I don't know if bass_cats is willing to invest that much $$$ for the discus.. And how how much the LFS will pay for discus.

My lfs doesnt even sell discus, and if they ordered some they would probly charge way to much for me:(. I'll probly try angles, thanks for all your advice:).

I know that. But here, despite they are easy to breed, angelfish are quite expensive.:screwy:

but he shouldn't breed an aquarium hobby staple that the lfs already has a wholesaler to get them cheaper from than having to buy them from the op.

i breed albino bn plecos.. usually get 3 bucks a piece.. i sell to local fish keepers on craigslist.. each spawn is 40-50 eggs.. and i used to have 2 pairs going at once until my arow decided he liked the taste of plecos.. now i just have a single pair but going to do it up harem style.. :D my tanks run off the money i make from breeding the plecos :D

How do breed bn plecs? They charge like $15 for regular bn plecs at my lfs.

angels are a decent option perhaps, but in general, if it is easy to breed, then you're not going to make much money off of them

That's not true. Bristlenose plecos and Angelfish are relatively easy to breed yet they are both in high-demand.

pretty much buy a male and a couple females.. and give them plenty of caves.. i use homemade coconut caves.. very easy to breed and fry are easy to take care of..

but in general the majority of the lfs are still going to buy them on the cheap from their wholesaler in larger quantities than from a local fishkeeper.
