What are the most expensive fish on average? I say on average, because something like a super short body fish could cost a lot more than normal fish. So what in your opinion is the most expensive fish on average?

Probably any Platinum or hard to get fish such as a Australian Lungfish.

Some tangs, butterflyfish, and angelfish out there that are ridiculous.
Excluding morphs, definitely some sharks/rays or basically any rare reef fish.

Freshwater wise if considering just the average quality specimen of the species I would say a quality Asian Arowana, Freshwater Rays and koi.

you would think freshwater platinum gars, arowana's rays and so on. But its probably the smaller saltwater reeffish that are most expensive.
Peppermint Angelfish for example go for 30,000 dollars what is complete bs if u ask me for such a small fish

I was never interested in saltwater before but knowing this now I think my wallet agree that I should never be interested in a saltwater aquarium haha. There a myth where if an arowana die its because it sacrificed itself to protect you from danger and bad luck in addition to bringing wealth while its alive. For 30k I expect the Peppermint Angelfish to make me Immortal and lay golden eggs haha.

For saltwater, as stated above, platinum angelfish takes the cake. The price on that thing for its size is insane, much bigger arowana are matched or exceeded in cost by it.
