toss up between my Ornate bicher at ~45$ or Lamp Compressiceps cichlid 1.5" 45$ got my 160$ Harlequin Tuskfish for 38$ and my da** anemone ate it 2 weeks later.

i feel very ripped off at the prices i pay (aust) compared to you guys in US. You need to be willing to spend quite a lot to continue fishkeeping. My most unjust price purchase (not most expensive btw) was a 2" Peppermint Pleco @ $25. (this was on sale RRP $50).

But i do wonder, getting fishes for so cheap, wont there be plenty of problems with neglect and abuse?

My most expensive fish was a chewed up rhaphiodon vulpinus for 30 dollars at 4". At the time I didn't understand that these weren't that rare and my other LFS got in some beautiful ones for 20 each

My runner up prices are 20 for a 6-7" hydrolycus scomberoides, 21 for a gymnothorax tile, 20 each for a male and female belonesox belizanus.

There is, but there is also neglect and abuse with dogs and cats which are much more expensive.

In AU you could make a killing being a fish breeder.
