Guess I've been on the cheap side, $30 for a 6-7" bala shark and $20 each for three 6-8" frontosa have been my top buys so far. I'd spend up to a $100 though without too much worry, over that and it better be a VERY special fish.

I've paid $160 for a purple snakehead.
At the time he called it a barca, but I remember a name change a few years ago.
It was purple with orange/yellow fins, with white spiderwebs/marbling over th purple. T was gorgeous! But proved too strong as it pushed over a 10pm dumbbell off tank lid and dried.
