I am sure there are prizewinners that cost more than this but I have recently seen $3,900 australian lungfish, $6,000 koi, and a $12,000 x-back asian aro for sale.

Just last month, a "platinum" silver aro sold for $!3K in Japan. This albino silver aro is said to have sold for over $26,000. But, the actual sale amount is being kept quiet at the request of the buyer.

just out of curiosity what is the most expensive fish and how much does it cost?
I think, he didn't said that. He's asking what's the most expensive fish.:)

RTF was telling me about that last week. A platinum aro that cost more than red aro or xback.

There's a long-standing reward of a million bucks for anyone that can provide a live coelacanth. I forget which aquarium posted it, though.

TRY $15,000,000 US$ from a japanese hobbyist.

Most expensive are the ones that are for sale in the japanese market. aaa arowanas, flowerhorns and the kois. Plus all the fish with the weird morphs...albino,leucistic, short body, curved back , you name it ..

Speaking about the devil :D What up red tail. He's the 1 who told me about platinum.

A lot of sellers put their fish up for sale for ridiculous prices not to sell the fish ( nobody would buy it anyway ) , but to garner publicity.
