for the last 3 months i have searched high and low, asked countless people and still nothing.
and i have looked for my fair share of rare fish. but i always found the fish or gotten info on its where abouts . but not this time the lucrative and rare cuban gar has got me going nuts,i havent turned up anything in the last 3 months and everyday i want one more and more and it doesnt help. does anyone have any idea where i can score 2 or how ever many someone wants to sell me.

i believe dan ye-jennings @ american-cichlids had some in stock recently, i dont know about if he ships to canada or whether he still has them.

yup. some fish are just hard to find. alot of rare one are endangered so they need to be farm bred or caught at a low rate. alot of people may want that fish so you need to strike first, locate a dealer and buy it fast. i wanted a delhezi bichir very badly. it took me roughly 5 months to find one. I've heard from a fellow MFK and he told me it took him 10 years to find one!!!! LOL. Delhezi aren't even very rare to find!!! Patience and reseach is the key to fish keeping success. I've heard cuban gars are very rare too. They cost something from the thousands to the ten thousands.

Wait till below water gets them in stock again, that's how I got mine. Had some back in april. Looking back at previous price lists he tends to get them around february.

15 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats crazy

I'd like to note it was not until the past few years that there really has been any interest in these fish here on this side of the world. Before the work that some put into it to get these dang things they where pretty much a mythological monster.. Solomon in particular gets the huge giant and big kudos to really pushing them in this Hemisphere.. He was the one that really pushed hard to get the first few of these in. From there the popularity of the CBG has raised regularly resulting in many more importations into both Canada and the US.

Really gars are a very new fish to this hobby.. It has not really been 5 or so years that they really started to be a desired fish. Many I think do not remember the old days when no gars where ever around really and if they where it was either you caught them or spent $100 for a FLG.
