Most intelligent animal as a pet?

1: In your opinion what is the most smartest animal (mammal, Bird, Reptile, fish etc) that one can own as a pet? 2: Or something most human-like as far as emotions and intellect beside an ape. Something that is not extremely rare or difficult to obtain either.

your questions, 1 & 2 can have completely different answers. actual intelligence is not the same thing as animals transferring their bonding inclinations to a human.
plus you list emotions, and none of the qualities can be clumped together for a single answer.
