Most neglected iguana i've seen in years.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is sad, that poor little baby getting cramped....

He looks like the little girl we just picked up from our LPS before Christmas.

This poor creature has burns on her body, from what, we don't know, but they're horrible, permanent scars that I don't think will EVER go away.

Some little babies (precious to me, since I have a rescued 2 yr old pair of "midgets") who had MBD, and others who looked like they were on their last legs. We brought home the healthiest of 6, and even little Gremlin wasn't as good as she could've been.

The store had her for 2 weeks, and she was skinny, missing most of her claws, and shedding badly. I've been soaking her with my pair twice a week, giving a bit of extra calcium (my female is in season) and making sure she gets the right foods, and she's improved quite a bit....the shoddy care was evident when Gremlin improved HOURS after she came to live with us!!

One of the babies at the store....you can't see it from the salt deposits on the glass (due to sneezing from overheating) but this little one's back is bent funny...

The one facing to the right is the new baby, and there's a difference between her body condition and those of my rescues.

When her pictures from a week and a half later upload, I'll post them.

That is sick, i wish I could do something about it but being in the UK it is just a little bit hard. Good on you _sushi_ for rescuing those others.

I just noticed the empty looking bellies on my pair, and they hadn't eaten yet that day....lol So I'm sure they probably look crappy...><

My fiance HAD to rescue her, he picked her out 3 days in advance, and told me that we were coming back for her (he wanted to rescue all 6, but we really don't have the room for 6 fully grown iguanas, and my stunted ones) We thought she was a boy at first, we are quite relieved to have a second girl... lol

anyways, here are Gremlin's pics from the 28th (or at least that's when I uploaded....whatever date is on the pic is the correct date of the photo)

you can see her belly is starting to fill out more, and now her scars are shedding some of the excess tissue off of them (the dead skin was also fused to the live skin in a couple of spots)

It's a shame. I've rescued a few from pet stores that were in poor condition. I really wish they would stop selling them all together. They're cute when they're babies but they grow in to large, powerful animals that need lots of room and proper conditions to thrive. Good job with rescuing them Sushi.

You mean I can't keep my iguana in my 2.5 gallon?

C'mon man, you need at least a 5 gallon....;)
