Most overrated bands?

 • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Talent isn't completely necessary for a band to be good. You can have a band with all the technical ability in the world but doesn't get it artistically they suck. Likewise you can have a band with no musical talent that gets it and they're great, see the ramones.

Calling them overrated is one thing, but to say that they suck? Van Halen has more musical talent than probably 75% of the bands you're into combined.

Let's take a second to review some Van Halen.
"I've been sitting here 'bout half the night
oh, mama, fill my cup up
said I came to waste some time
I think I'm gonna jump up
I'm singin', I'm dancin' most every night
and I want to do that with you babe
Let's do this bottle right
Oh, oh, baby, bottoms up"

And songmeanings wont let me copy/paste, but I'd also like to cite this abomination

Yeah, that's talent. if I ever find myself listening to stuff like that, I am going to woodchip my guitar.

Now there is the truth... It is really more about the creativity of the band.

I agree with your second statement (it can be demonstrated just by listening to the 2010 version of We are the World...), but disagree with the rest. I don't know of a single band lacking musical talent that I would consider to be good. Popular, maybe, but not good. And while I would not consider The Ramones to be talentless, I also don't think they are a better band than Van Halen...

Every band has its good songs and its bad songs. Go listen to Eruption, then come back and tell me about how "talentless" Eddie Van Halen is...

.

I absolutely love The Beatles. My favorite era is Rubber Soul/Revolver.

Oh, and ANYTHING rap or hip hop is just automatically bad.
I like a lot of what you like (and disagree w/ some bands that you mentioned as overrated, too), but that's a ridiculous thing to say. There are a lot of underground artists that put out great music even without vocals. R.EYE.P the greatest poet/rapper of my generation (no, the music isn't the greatest (bad example of that, lol, but the lyrics are epic and so is the rapping)

Bruce Springsteen.
hate that dude

The Beatles, AC/DC (irritating vocals), The Who, literally every popular band/singer that has come up so far since the 2000's, Nirvana (can't stand most of their music), Poison, Dire Straits, DragonForce, Sublime, U2, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park (awful singer), Drowning Pool (awful singer + terrible lyrics), and Slipknot (same as DP).
Drowning Pool is actually on their third singer, so which one?

anything American, I'm sorry but any metal music from America is just generic and ****ty. the only good bands are from Europe. (which also include the 1980s band Europe)

before I get flamed may I add that America had AMAZING music in the 80s. then suddenly everything now is either that generic american metal sound (dreamtheatre included) or club music remixes.
The 80s had some of the worst music ever, especially popular music and most hair bands were terrible. All American metal is generic and s***ty? This is one of the most exciting and innovative times for music if you're into metal and pushing the boundaries of metal and a lot of it is coming from North America. Go ahead and tell me it's crap if you want (I will vehemently disagree, though), but you cannot tell me this is generic ...

btw, I do like The Who (Pinball Wizard was a really dumb song, though), AC/DC sometimes, Sublime, Linkin Park (not so much their last two albums), Drowning Pool, Slipknot and especially Nirvana.

hands down, its got to be U2
agree

Calling Eddie Van Halen talentless is like calling Michael Jackson alive.

i dont get why people are arguing about which bands suck and which bands are good everyone has there own opinions/ taste in music.
