Most personable snake?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah after reading around a bit I think I might get a tegu! I've now derailed my own thread, but they're cool, get big and awesome looking, and seem extremely intelligent and when handled properly, interactive.

Very well decided!!

many tegu have bad attitudes... you might be better off with a bearded dragon.. they get decent size and are very personable..

Tegus get HUGE and can be pretty vicious from what I have read. Obviously one raised and handled throughout its life will be different, but still be careful. I would second the bearded dragon idea over a tegu.

there is a reptile show in White Plains NY on 2/24/13
if you can get there I can point out some good breeders... its a really good show with lots of vendors.. you can get cages there too..

Nice! Yeah that'd be awesome if I could get there.

And as for aggression comments, the plan is to get one as young as possible and handle it daily. I've always been quite good at raising animals to be accustomed to humans, and I'm confident in my ability to do so here. Me and the tegu gonna chill hard.

And of course I did my research via housing. Gonna start him in a 4x2 or so as a baby, and upgrade to 6' for his birthday. And when appropriate, 8' for sure. Not a big deal when you're not concerned about water weight.

2' of soil isn't exactly lightweight, either.
