Most Profitable Breeders?

Here in Glasgow, most of the shops will give you half retail price if you take shop credit - always useful! - and a third retail for cash. I got around £50 - £60 for trading in 24 convicts! At current exchange, that's over $100!

If you don't have the capital to start with zebra plecs, you might want to give Endler's livebearers a shot. Easy to breed, small size for limited spaces/reduced shipping, and readily available. Average selling prices are around $15/adult pair.

Endlers are really great little fish! I have a 30 gal with just Orange Chested Endlers and Midget Livebearers (H. formosa) which are native here. They like the same water conditions and don't bother one another. I love the metalic color of Endlers and would love to develop an all green variety. Only wish the fish were about 3"!

the price comes from level of difficulty more expensive fish s fry can be sold but it is a higher investment
fish that take monthes to reach a selling size also go for more while rapid maturing fish go for less
also you have to thinbk of tank needed for the fish and to rise batches of fry
like stingrays babys may go for 100$ (depending on type) but the parents need to be housed in a 180 gal or so and the babies (usually up to 3) will need another 75 gal
sometimes the investment cost (equipment thats needed) is highter then profit or that it will take a long time before you make profit

most people who breed as a buisness breed at a large enough scale so they will always have fish to sell

id recomend doing for fun with the earned money from selling them going to fish food and decorations etc.

unless you are doing this on a large scale i dont think youll make much money unless you breed a hard to breed species which is a slim chanc and large gamble

you would be hard pushed to make a profit but if you went down the pleco route and say had some L183s they are pretty easy to spawn, do very regularly and could end up with 70+ so depends if your going on some moderate to lower priced fish and lots of or high end fish and fewer, eg rays.

Local markets vary but not many shops I know will pay more than $1.00 ea for Endler's. They breed like the guppies they are for anyone. Not very profitable but they do make good feeders for Pike Cichlids.

like many of them said, a lot of places will only give you up 1/3 your actual value of fish. From my own experience though, I have made a good deal off smaller common fish like various gouramis. I know a lot of people here will not agree with me, but i have 4 different vendors near me that will all give between 2/5 and 1/2 value of my fish. With these guaranteed buyers, it makes it easy for me to make quick money. The key words though are quick money which is also small money. You will not make a fortune doing this, and if your looking to then best of luck to you, you got a lot of work to do. If you have any other questions let me know you can email me as well just message me back if you want my email.
