Most Underrated Monster Fish???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am going to have to add 2 of the present fish I have

Zebra Tilapia

&

Zilli Tilapia

they are truly fearless and have the craziest mannerisms

I'd say Clown Knives or Royal knives are the most underrated. I barely even see them anymore. I dont know why, when I had my Royal Knife, NOTHING compared to him, he was a BEAST!

I've always wanted one. I agree they have disappeared. The LFS used to have a couple and some babies as well, but not anymore for over a year...

Chinese Perch!!!!!!!!!!!

Large mouth bass. No one keeps them (figuratively), they get huge, and will eat damn near anything that moves.

LMB isnt kept due to the legality of keeping a native gamefish in the home aquarium

but your right they do get large, agressive and will eat just about anything

Oscars are so common which is why I think people don't see them as special anymore. But they're wonderful...

Also, I would say the regular JD - people seem so fascinated by the EBJD that the reg's don't get the attention I think they deserve.

i love goldfish, but I don't think they're underrated.

Oh, believe me, they are. If I ever talk about keeping goldfish people are like, "Goldfish? I thought you were more advanced." As if goldfish were some hurdle not to be looked back upon. Of course, all you have to do is ask them how old their goldfish is. Then ask why it died if it's so easy to raise them.
Plus, they are the essential "feeder" and "cheap prize" that seem so disposable to so many. I can't imagine a more underrated fish. It's the gap between how they are perceived in value and how cool they actually are once in a tank that I see here as the measure of "underrated-ness". Differing definitions of "underrated" will lead to different fish being selected, I suppose.
